Custom Framing / Travel Art Framing

Frame The Art You Brought Home.

Frame Place frames the art people bring back from traveling: street artist pieces, market finds, rolled canvas and paper from anywhere in the world. We flatten, stretch, or mat what the piece needs, then frame it so the trip stays on your wall.

Travel Art Framing at Frame Place Miami

It is one of our favorite jobs and one of the most common: someone comes home from a trip with a rolled-up piece they bought from a street artist in Paris or a market stall in South America, and it sits in a tube for a year. Bring it in instead.

Travel pieces often need real preparation: flattening rolled paper, stretching canvas, or building a mat around an odd size. That is normal work here, and the finished frame is what finally makes the piece part of your home.

Good To Know

What Do People Bring Back From Trips?

Rolled canvas from street artists, watercolors from market stalls, prints from museum shops, textiles, papyrus, batik, sketches bought on a bridge somewhere. Most arrive in a tube or folded in a suitcase, and most have been waiting far longer than their owners meant them to.

Sizes are rarely standard, which is exactly what custom framing is for. The frame gets built to the piece, whatever proportions the artist chose.

How Do You Prepare A Rolled Or Folded Piece?

Rolled paper and canvas are flattened or stretched, depending on the material, so the surface sits flat before framing. Folded pieces are trickier than rolled ones, but bring it in anyway: we will look at the actual creases and tell you honestly what can be done.

How Much Does It Cost To Frame Travel Art?

Preparation is what varies: a flat print needs only mat and frame, while a rolled canvas needs stretching first and a textile needs mounting. Bring the piece and we will price the real options in front of you, free. It is almost always less than people expect after a year of putting it off.

Questions, Answered

Common Questions

My Piece Has Been Rolled Up For A Year. Is That A Problem?

Usually not. We flatten and prepare rolled paper and canvas all the time; bring it in and we will tell you exactly what it needs.

Can You Frame Textiles Or Fabric Pieces?

Yes. Fabric and textile pieces are mounted and framed like the dimensional works they are, often in a shallow shadow box style.

Can You Frame Papyrus, Batik, Or Rice Paper?

Yes. Delicate and unusual materials from travel are regular work here, and each gets a mounting approach suited to what it is.

The Piece Is An Odd Size. Does That Cost Extra?

Odd sizes are simply what custom framing is. The frame is built to your piece, so a nonstandard size is normal work, not a surcharge category.

How Long Does It Take?

Most travel pieces land near the shop average of about 3 business days, depending on the preparation the piece needs.
