Miami Art Week

Framing For Art Basel And Miami Art Week.

Bought art at Art Basel or one of the Miami Art Week fairs? Frame Place stretches rolled canvas, frames works on paper, and finishes new pieces properly at our shop on SW 87th Ave. Most jobs average about 3 business days, so the piece can be done before the week is over.

Art Basel Framing at Frame Place Miami

Every December, Miami fills with art fairs, and thousands of pieces change hands: canvases rolled into tubes at the booth, prints and editions in flat sleeves, photography, works on paper. Then comes the question nobody thinks about at the fair: now what?

This is the now what. We have been framing Miami's art since 1999, and fair season is our favorite version of the job: fresh work, excited owners, and the piece still carrying the energy of the aisle it was bought in. Bring it in as it left the booth and we will take it from there.

Frame Place is an independent frame shop. We are not affiliated with Art Basel or any fair; we are simply the shop where the art ends up when the week is over.

Good To Know

What Should You Do With Art Bought At A Fair?

Get it out of the tube. Canvas and paper left rolled develop memory and, in Miami humidity, worse. A canvas should be stretched over proper bars; a work on paper should be flattened, matted, and framed behind glass. Both are routine work here.

If you are unsure what the piece needs, that is normal, and it is the conversation the counter is for. Bring it in exactly as you carried it out of the fair.

Can It Be Framed Before You Fly Home?

Often, yes. The shop average is about 3 business days, and roughly 99% of our 450+ frame styles are in stock, so there is no waiting on a moulding order. Actual turnaround depends on the type and complexity of the job.

Tell us your flight and we will be straight with you about whether the date is realistic. If it is not, we will talk through the options rather than promise what we cannot deliver.

How Should New Contemporary Work Be Framed?

Canvas usually wants a floater frame, which shows every edge of the work and stays out of its way, or a clean gallery wrap with no frame at all. Works on paper want a mat and glass. Photography splits both ways depending on the finish.

The honest answer depends on the specific piece, which is why you choose against real corner samples here rather than a website configurator. We will tell you when the minimal option is the right one; with contemporary work, it often is.

How Much Does It Cost To Frame Fair Art?

Size, finish, and preparation set the price: stretching a rolled canvas, then the frame you choose, if any. The quote is free and happens with the piece in front of you, with options at more than one budget. After what the art cost, the framing is rarely the expensive part.

Questions, Answered

Common Questions

Is Frame Place Affiliated With Art Basel?

No. We are an independent Miami frame shop, established in 1999. Art Basel and the Miami Art Week fairs are their own organizations; we are where the art goes after the fair.

My Canvas Is Rolled In A Tube. What Now?

Bring it in the tube. We stretch rolled canvas over proper bars, and the sooner it happens the better the canvas behaves.

Do You Frame Prints And Limited Editions?

Yes. Editions and works on paper are matted and framed behind glass, handled with the care a numbered piece deserves.

Can You Handle Several Pieces From One Trip?

Yes. Bring everything from the week in one visit and we will design each piece with you, keeping styles consistent or distinct as you prefer.

I Am Visiting Miami. Can You Work Around My Departure?

Tell us the date first. With most frames in stock, faster-than-average is often possible, and we will be honest immediately if your timeline is not.

Does This Only Apply During Art Week?

No. Fair season peaks in December, but art bought at galleries, fairs, and studios arrives here all year, and the service is the same.
